On Thursday morning the 11th of June 2009 Chris Knox suffered a life-altering stroke in his Grey Lynn home. This was a devastating shock, but solidified his huge impact on New Zealand’s musical culture.
At the release party for ‘Stroke- Songs for Chris Knox’ a tribute and covers album (featuring Jay Retard, Yo La Tengo The Mountain Goats, Lambchop, David Kilgour, The Mint Chicks, Don McGlashan etc) CHRIS KNOX AND THE NOTHING played an unexpectedly stunning performance, which left the audienced thrilled, reeling and loving THE NOTHING.
On this occasion CHIS KNOX AND THE NOTHING are joined by Shayne P. Carter (from legendary NZ bands Straitjacket Fits & Dimmer). In a 2006 interview Knox claimed The Nothing were exactly like The Beatles ‘except for the songs...’
